Ducks win last WC quarterfinal

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks won the only series that went to seven games on Wednesday night. They staved off elimination on Monday by winning at home, then they took it on the road, defeating Calgary 3-0 despite being in "the C of Red".

The Ducks were fueled by Teemu Selanne and Ruslan Salei, both of whom had second period goals and an empty netter by Jeff Friesen in the third.

The rest of the hockey world was waiting for this result, so the second round schedules could be posted. All the teams in the east knew their opponent, and they were given two quite different scenarios depending on the outcome of this game.

Now that that's done, Carolina knows that it's schedule will be (home games in red):

Saturday May 6, @ 2:00 (NBC)
Monday May 8 @ 7:30 (OLN)
Wednesday May 10 @ 7:00 (OLN)
Saturday May 13 @ 3:00 (NBC)
Sunday May 14 @ 7:00 (OLN)
Tuesday May 16 @ 7:30 (OLN)
Thursday May 18 @7:30 (OLN)

In other news, the Canes announced the ticket prices for the rounds three and four of the playoffs. I think I fooled myself into thinking that they would only increase by a few bucks per round, so I was initially in shock when I looked at my invoice. For rounds one and two, the price was only a few dollars more than the same seat in regular season. The price for my tickets in the final round will be more than 2X the face value of the same seat in the regular season. Still, though, our seats are cheap compared to the rest of the league, so I can't really complain. I don't know how I'm going to afford it, but I can't pass on it either.

I suppose I'll have to get a second and third job.

so i'm just wondering..but why in the world do we have a 2:00 game? thats pretty random.. & if they were to have a pre-game skate.. how early would they make that.. since they're game is like 5 hours earlier than it normally is..

In this specific case, the 2:00 puck drop is in the express interest of television. However, afternoon games aren't entirely uncommon. Most teams play at least a few weekend matinees every season. If it was a Tuesday, it would indeed be very random, but this isn't.

I can't remember what the specifics are of the game-day itenerary. It seems like I once read that the visiting team skips the morning skate whenever there's an afternoon game. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like I read or heard that somewhere.
