Also, today is "The game". By that, I mean round one of the home-and-home Duke-UNC basketball series. Even if you're not from around here, you know about the Duke-UNC rivalry. Although UNC lost their top seven scorers from last season's National Championship team, they're playing better than most people expected. Also, no matter what, both teams rise to this occasion.
So tonight, at 9:00, Duke will travel the 10 miles to Chapel Hill for the biggest game of the season for both teams. On March 4, they'll do it again in Durham.
For the record, I was born in Chapel Hill, and that makes me a Tar Heel.
I plan, however, to write a longwinded post at the other place about some of the reasons that hockey is superior to football. I know I'm preaching to the choir here.

Actually, I'm not from around there and I don't know about the rivalry. :)
A Canadian invented basketball and left it down there b/c it's so boring, just like Celine Dion and Mike Myers.
Going to a UNC-Duke game is on my list of things to do in my lifetime.
GO TAR HEELS! :)
Yeah... You'll want to do that. I've been to countless UNC-Duke football games, which are never exciting. I've never been to a UNC-Duke basketball game, though. There's no way in hell I'll ever get to do it at Cameron, and I just haven't been lucky enough to know anyone with extra tickets to a Chapel Hill game. There's nothing stopping me from going, though. State law prohibits scalping of tickets --- they will allow a very marginal markup from face value, but that's it.
I was pretty pleased with the result on Tuesday night, as I assumed that Duke would win by about 8 or so. That the Heels had a chance to tie late was pretty amazing to me. Oh well.
