Before Carolina took care of their major business on Tuesday, they re-signed three players. Winger Ryan Bayda and defenseman/winger/tough guy Wade Brookbank were both signed to one-way NHL contracts. Also, defenseman Tim "We got us a great big" Conboy was signed to a two-way deal.
Bayda and Brookbank were signed to identical contracts. One year at $475k. Conboy's is a two-year deal that will pay $475k at the NHL level or $100k at Albany.
The Canes now have 11 forwards signed to NHL deals and five defensemen.
Here's how things look:
Ray Whitney / Eric Staal / Justin Williams
Sergei Samsonov / Rod Brind'Amour / Scott Walker
Tuomo Ruutu / Matt Cullen / Patrick Eaves
Wade Brookbank / Chad LaRose* (Trevor Letowski*) / Ryan Bayda
Tim Gleason / Joe Corvo
Nic Wallin / Joni Pitkanen*
Frantisek Kaberle / Anton Babchuk (Dennis Seidenberg*)
Cam Ward
Michael Leighton
Pitkanen hasn't signed anything yet, and LaRose is a free agent.
I don't think the Canes will be making any moves in the market other than to re-sign their own RFAs. Look for Dennis Seidenberg and Trevor Letowski. They may end up elseshere.
More later.

Ryan Bayda becomes the flu's latest victim
Carolina Hurricanes third line left winger Ryan Bayda was sent home from practice today because he was sick. Here's the list of players already out of the lineup for tonight's game against the Bruins:
C Rod Brind'Amour (out for the season -- ACL)
LW Justin Williams (out for the season -- ACL, MCL)
C Chad LaRose (out for the season -- broken leg)
D Dennis Seidenberg (ankle)
W Patrick Eaves (shoulder)
D Bret Hedican (lower body)
D David Tanabe (concussion)
From the sounds of the reports this morning, LW Bayda will be unable to go, making the count eight.
In addition, the following players are sick with flu-like symptoms, but will probably play anyway, but will be unable to give 100%:
RW Erik Cole
LW Ray Whitney
There's a reasonable chance that Carolina could only have nine forwards available tonight, and that's counting Wade Brookbank.
Center Joe Jensen was called up from Albany on Monday, only to be hospitalized by illness during the game. He was reassigned to Albany, but sent home to bed.
This will be the first of six straight home games for the Canes, who have won four home games in a row.
Washington and Atlanta, who both trail the Hurricanes by two standings points, are idle tonight. Florida, who is four points back, is at Pittsburgh.
Puck drop is at 7:00. No local TV coverage.

Canes-Thrash
Tonight, the Hurricanes will take on the Thrashers in Atlanta. It's the first of three SE division road games in a row, and the fifth in a series of nine straight SE division games. It will be the first meeting between the teams this season.
Carolina has recalled Ryan Bayda and reassigned Keith Aucoin for the game. This will already be Bayda's third call-up this season.
After a poor performance on Thursday, especially from the defense, Carolina will hope to rebound with a win tonight. The good news on the defensive front is that Dennis Seidenberg got his immigration issues worked out. He had to miss Thursday's game because his visa was expired. I don't think he was deported, but he was definitely not allowed to play. Since that's taken care of, Snuggles Tanabe can return to the pressbox.
This season, Carolina has had two "bad" losses. Maybe three. Each time, they have responded with a convincing win the next time out. On October 6, they were shut out 2-0 by Washington. They responded three days later with a convincing 7-1 win at Toronto. On October 26, they lost bady at home 7-4 to the Canadiens. They bounced right back with a 8-3 pounding of the Islanders. The 4-2 loss to the Panthers on Haloween night wasn't what I considered to be "bad", but they answered it the next night with a 4-2 win.
The point of all this is that Carolina hasn't had two consecutive regulation losses at any time this season. They'll hope to make that remain true.
No word on who the starter will be in nets, but my guess is that Crackers gets a shot.
If you're in the Carolina viewing area, be sure to tune in a half hour early for the interview with Rod Brind'Amour. According to LSB, it should be a good one.

Canes host Nucks, call up AHL help
Tonight when the Carolina Hurricanes play host to the Vancouver Canucks, expect to see some new but familiar faces donning the red and black. On Sunday, Carolina called up Ryan Bayda and Keith Aucoin from Albany to ease the pain of missing forwards Andrew Ladd, Erik Cole and Scott Walker. All are expected to miss at least one more week.
As of this morning, Carolina had lost 19 man-games to injury. Ladd, Walker, Cole and defenseman Dennis Seidenberg are all expected to sit out again, which will bring the total to 23 man-games lost through the first nine games.
The only relief that Carolina will have is that they will be rested while the Canucks will not. Vancouver played in Columbus Sunday night, and won 4-1. They will arrive sometime early Monday, will probably have a light practice and an optional soccer kick-around.
Through seven games, Vancouver is 3-4-0. They've scored 20 goals and have surrendered 25. They are 2-0-0 on the road so far, and are 0-1-0 against the East. This will be their first of five road games against Southeast Division teams this season.
This will be Carolina's first Western foe of the season, and only their third home game.
Ryan Kesler is riding a three game point streak for the Canucks, while Viva and Rod Brind'Amour are both riding five game point streaks for the Hurricanes.
This will be the first time Canes fans have seen the Sedinbots and Markus Naslund in the RBC Center since before the lockout.
For a Canucks perspective of the game, including some good liveblogging, please visit Canucks and Beyond and Canucks Hockey Blog. Alanah and JJ are good folks. And don't forget Jes Golbez. He's good people too.
Expect to see Cam Ward back between the pipes.
Don't forget that the Hurricanes will be donating a portion of all walk-up ticket sales to local cancer research agencies as part of the ongoing Hockey Fights Cancer program.
The game will not be televised by FSS, so you'll have to catch it on Center Ice or, better yet, at the RBC Center.
