The express purpose of attending a minor league baseball game is to drink beer. The baseball is somewhere around #5 in the list of things going on at the game that night. It's perfectly fine to depart from a minor league baseball as early as you wish. Second inning? Wanna go home? No problem

True, that. I go to plenty of minor league baseball games every summer, and even though I've stuck around long enough to see a number of "10th inning game winning home run"-type moments, in general the majority of people still in their seats at the end of a minor league baseball game are either elderly season ticket holders or social misfits.Brushbackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14439601217855895036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14559994.post-1147210613767445342006-05-09T17:36:00.000-04:002006-05-09T17:36:00.000-04:00I wouldn't say that Commodore "almost blew it". T...I wouldn't say that Commodore "almost blew it". That puck glanced off his stick, then off Gomez' stick, then off the right post, then off the left post, then in. It was almost as if it was destined to be a goal. Had he done a better job of gurarding Gomez, that whole chain of events would have not occurred. The puck would have sailed right of the net, and we have no idea what would have happened after that.

My point is that he's been spectacular. He finishes checks, stands guys up, denies passing lanes, and has been a key member of the penalty killing unit. He's done a great job of clearing the zone in this series especially.

All of this, when the expectations of him were that he would be a warm body, a seventh d-man. Nothing else. Instead of being a healthy scratch, he's been a dependable blue liner.

During the regular season, he was second on the team with a +12 rating. I'm not allowed to mention the name of the guy who lead Carolina in +/-.

But yeah... You're right, Michael. On that particular play, he could have been better. That's one of a very few bad plays he's had in this postseason, and I wouldn't even call that bad, so much as unfortunate. More often than not (which is how I should have qualified that statement), he's been outstanding.d-leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15772585727501344436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14559994.post-1147190851220509162006-05-09T12:07:00.000-04:002006-05-09T12:07:00.000-04:00Commodore almost blew it for your guys. Commodore's job is to keep Gomez' stick on the ice and not let him get a chance at it.HockeyKnighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10554602049763238040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14559994.post-1147150837920598612006-05-09T01:00:00.000-04:002006-05-09T01:00:00.000-04:00I loved the crowd chanting GOAL, GOAL, GOAL, GOAL,...I loved the crowd chanting GOAL, GOAL, GOAL, GOAL, for like 4 solid minutes.

And kudos to Canesvision for cutting the music and just letting the chant ring through the arena.

AWESOME.DrFrankLiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01045445948725325218noreply@blogger.com
